Susan Olij was born in Indonesia, moved to the U.K to attend college, to New York to continue her studies and finally to Singapore in 2000 to work. She has been practicing art since young, but only began to pursue fine art full-time in 2005, where she left her corporate fashion buying job for art. Her previous training in life art and painting from Singaporean master artists Lee Boon Wang, Namasivayam and Indonesian artist Teguh Ostenrik, as well as part time classes while living in New York at School of Visual Art and New York Academy of Art has contributed to her journey as a fine artist. She is currently pursuing a full-time Bachelors of Fine Art’s degree at Singapore LaSalle College of the Arts, majoring in Painting.
She began with figurative art in early 2003 and progressing through the end of 2005 into abstract figurative and in 2007 she explores abstract expressionism.
Her artworks are expansive in range and constantly changing style is becoming her progressive trademark. She has done commission for residential and retail establishments in Singapore, and boutique resort in Koh Samui was her latest large scale commission project.
