The highlight is four annual exhibitions at TCC's Circular Road outlet: each show has a fancy opening with canapes and wine, a well-produced catalogue, and extensive publicity; the staff are also specially trained to answer queries on the art.
'All the artists we show currently are based in Singapore,' says Mr Verly. The works picked tend to be in the under-$10,000 category, and sales have been good, he says. Frank MacKenzie, who exhibited at TCC (The Gallery) earlier this year notes the location offers 'continuous traffic flow of varying ages; moreover, Boat Quay is a premium tourist location'.
'We are F&B players, and use our venue to bring the arts to where the people are,' says Ms Chang. 'The original inspiration is Europe, where the culture of art, cafes and the artists are so linked. And ultimately in our time-stressed environment, it's our customers who benefit from the double offering of arts and F&B.' TCC sponsors both visual and performing arts and is now introducing music into the premises with recent concerts by the Klazz Brothers & Cuba Percussion. |
